Former Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi has weighed in on the hot debate on whether Super Eagles and Napoli Forward, Victor Osimhen, who has been linked with big money moves away from Italy, should take the option.

Osimhen, 24, is wanted by Saudi Arabia club, Al-Hilal who have offered huge wages for the Forward.

The Nigerian has been a hot property for Napoli and they have held strongly to their most-prized asset from last season.

However Club president, Aurelio De Laurentiis has maintained that the Nigerian striker would not leave the club on a cheap – no less than 200 Million Euros.

And now with mega-rich Saudi club, in form of Al-Hilal, trying to cop Osimhen, former SS Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, who recently joined Hong-Kong based club, Kitchee, has aired his opinion on the matter.

“There are two things involved in this situation. One is that Osimhen is a very young player who has a lot to achieve in Europe and to explore,” Onazi told FL.

“One, he can still get a whole lot of money in Europe, playing in Europe, staying in Europe, to do this. And still achieve a lot in Europe because he’s still very young.”

“He can still make a whole lot of money too in Europe because right now I think he’s the best striker. If you’re talking about he’s ranked with Haaland and the rest of them but he can still make that much money if he wants to stay in Europe.

“Apart from England, he can go to Al-Hilal and take this money because this money doesn’t come twice.”

“It comes once in a lifetime. And when he goes and take this money, I am sure that his generation will benefit from this money. And if he was my own brother, to be honest, I would tell him to go and take this money because, my friend, we are playing football because of this money, and he can still even achieve more.”

“If he goes there. He can still come back to Europe and play. He can still go anywhere to play. But first of all is to secure the future because you never can tell what can happen tomorrow. But he’s still on the right path.

“The decision is his. If he takes any decision for me, it’s okay because he’s still very young. He’s still doing very well. He still has the energy.”

Napoli have reportedly offered Victor Osimhen an improved contract, however, it has also been reported that the striker is yet to agree to it as he wants his release clause set at a reasonable figure, in what seems to be a move to enable him move on from the club without much fuss in the future.
