Former Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo has warned his successor Victor Osimhen against getting carried away by the hype rounding his recent success.

Osimhen has stepped into the position vacated by Ighalo who called it quit with the national team after the success of 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The Young striker has now registered four goals in his eight appearances for the Super Eagles, in the process helping the team top their group in 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Ighalo, who retired from international football after the 2019 AFCON praised his successor’s his current form, but urged him to remain focused and to ‘keep learning’.

“I always told him that he has everything it takes to lead this attack, but it all depends on him,” Ighalo told www.brila.net.

“I told him he has to keep working hard, stay humble and always be ready to learn, and above all not to get carried away with success or hype but just to keep improving.”
