Odion Ighalo keeping Al Hilal title hopes alive

Odion Ighalo could decide Al Hilal’s title ambitions this season and the 32 year-old made that clear this weekend when he inspire a comeback win for The Blue Waves against Damac.

Ighalo was went on a three-game goalless rut between April and early May, but the 32 year-old Forward found his scoring boots again and on the road at the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium.
Al Hilal trailed twice in the game although they went on to win 4-2 and completed the double over their opponents this season.
The visitors went behind as early as the third minute when Argentine Emilio Zelaya scored from the penalty spot and again in the 40th minute when Mansor Hamzi restored Damac’s lead, four minutes after Musab Aljuwayr leveled for the visitors from an Ighalo assist.
In the second half Al Hilal took complete control and went on a scoring spree. Matheus Pereira (75′), Moussa Marega (79′) and Ighalo (90+2′) all found the back of the net.
The Nigerian has now scored four times in as many games against Damac in all competitions since his move to Saudi Arabia from Manchester United.
Outcome of his efforts on Saturday also took his goal contribution in the League this season to 20 goals and 6 assists in 26 appearances to make him top of the goal scorer’s list.
Al Hilal SC moved them one spot to second on the standings and nine points behind leaders Al Ittihad FC, although with a game in hand.
The Saudi Premier League is at the tail end of the season with four rounds of games left to play.
