Nigeria’s Shanghai Shenhua forward Odion Ighalo was on target in the Chinese Super League for the first time since recovering from knee injury he sustained at 2019 Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria.
Ighalo scored the all important second goal as Shenhua won the thrilling contest, 2-1 against Dalian Yifang at the Hongkou Stadium on Sunday.
Belgian forward Yannick Carrasco scored the opener for the visitors ahead in the first minute, soon after Giovanni Moreno brought Shenhua level in the 25th minute.
Ighalo turned the hero when he finished off Cao Yunding’s cross to put Shanghai Shenhua ahead in the 38th minute for his eighth goal in the Chinese Super League this season .
Shanghai Shenhua are 11th on the log with 30 points after 26 matches.
Next up for Ighalo and his teammates is a visit to Chongqing Dangdai Lifan for their next fixture on Friday.
