Nigerian forward Stephen Odey was on target for Belgian side Gent in their 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions league clash.

Odey came on as a second half substitute for another Nigerian Paul Onuachu in the 81st minutes of the encounter and bagged a yellow card two minutes later.

Defending champions Liverpool took the lead in the 2nd minutes through Alexander Oxlade-Chamberlain, before he added the second in the 59th minutes.

Senegalese forward Sadio Mane made it 3-0 in the 77th minutes, before substitute Mohammed Salah scored the fourth with three minutes left on the clock.

However, there was still time for Odey to score his first UEFA Champions league goal in the 88th minutes.

Uronen picks out Ndongala who gets past three Liverpool players – Gomez, Van Dijk and Keita – before picking out Odey in the middle. He swivels with his finish and sends it flying past Alisson.

The Belgian Champions are yet to registered a point in the European elite competition after three matches .

The result brings an end to a bizarre four-game losing run in away Champions League group stage games for Liverpool, who remain second in Group E after Napoli beat Red Bull Salzburg 3-2 in the other fixture. Genk stay bottom with one point.
