Nigeria is determined to reach the Men’s football event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, but victory against Sudan in the U23 AFCON qualifier on Tuesday is crucial says Kelechi Nwakali.

Nwakali, who missed the first-leg qualifier against Sudan in Omdurman, joined up with the squad at the weekend and has practiced with the team twice since then.

The midfielder, in a chat with footballlive.ng, cautioned that Nigeria’s Olympic Eagles can’t afford to be overconfident or underrate the Sudan side.

“We have to work hard, because we lost the first game it doesn’t mean we can’t loose tomorrow. We just have to respect the opponent, but also not be afraid of them, but to take the game to them.

“Every minute any opportunity counts in a game like this magnitude; from the blast of the whistle, but I want to assure Nigerians that, we will qualify for the Olympic come tomorrow,” Nwakali said.
