Trabzonspor of Turkey striker, Anthony Nwakaeme has admitted he is desirous of a recall to the Super Eagles, and believes it will come true once he continues scoring goals for his club.
After netting for the second match running last weekend in the Turkish Super Lig, the former Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel all-action attacker said he is eagerly anticipating an invitation to the Eagles.
However, while admitting he is keen on a second chance to shine in the green-and-white, after failing to click in his debut away to Algeria in 2017, footballlive.ng can also report that Nwakaeme is staying patient.
He acknowledged that there are several other good players who are also already making their marks in the Eagles, and submitted that it will take a lot of patience and hard work for him to break through.
The 29-year-old striker, who took his current goals’ count to eight in 19 matches, when he struck to give his side a 1-0 win against Erzurumspor, is happy to hit five goals in four matches for his Trabzon-based side.
The product of Vejle Football Academy of Owerri is making waves in only his first season in the Turkish Lig, following his arrival from Be’er Sheva in the summer, and believes he can make Nigeria’s squad to the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt come June/July.
Nwakaeme stated: “I am not giving up on my chances of earning a recall to the team. Scoring goals for Trabzonspor will help me achieve that. I will keep my hope alive and see what happens.”
