NPL Super 6: Remo Stars pick Continental Ticket, Defeat Bendel Insurance

Remo Stars sealed a return to continental football after defeating Bendel Insurance on the final day of the Nigerian Premier League Playoffs in what was a keenly contested encounter.

Daniel Ogunmodede’s side started the game brightly and dominated proceedings, creating a number of goalscoring opportunities, but striker, Junior Lokosa had a tough time beating the Bendel Insurance defence.

 

 

They continued to work hard but the Benin Arsenal grew into the game as it seemed like the opposing managers cancelled each other out tactically.

Remo Stars would continue to press, but were repelled, however, in the 36th minute they broke through Insurance’s low defensive block through the impressive young midfielder, Qudus Akanni who found the back of the net after an impressive run of play from the wings.

Akanni hammered home from a perfect squared ball that deflected kindly for him.

Then, Bendel Insurance started to ask questions of their own, but Remo’s resolute defending continued to provide answers as the first half ended.

Remo Stars and Bendel Insurance cancelled each other out, tactically and were evenly matched.

It was the complete package from both managers as no side particularly dominated proceedings for a stretch.

The battle raged on between both sides and at the sound of the final whistle, the entire Remo squad and fan base cheered in victory.
