With nine matches remaining for teams in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), it has become apparent that the fight for the lucrative play off spots are becoming more fierce.
Rivers United head coach Stanley Eguma edges Nasarawa United boss Bala Nikyu to the dug out.
It was tough to pick a TOW because there were surprise results. However a decision was made and here it is.
Abiodun Akande (Rivers United)
Had it not been for Akande, Rivers United would have lost in Remo Stars. Made six brilliant saves and kept a clean sheet.
Abubakar Abdullahi (Nasarawa United)
Part of the back line that defended so well against Abia Warriors and managed to thwart anything that the home side attempted to do. He looked very comfortable for most parts.
Isiaka Oladuntoye (Rangers)
Was a calming influence at the back for Rangers in the draw at Niger Tornadoes. Won free kicks and played the ball out from defence well all game. Managed to keep the opposition extremely quiet, which is no mean feat.
Jide Williams (Nasarawa United)
Nasarawa United have recently been a different side and defensively they have been excellent. Jide Williams was on top form against Abia Warriors. Was a threat all day long going forward.
Ugwu Uwadiegwu (Rangers)
Was a constant threat shooting from distance and caused the Tornadoes defence plenty of issues down the left-hand side with his left-foot.
Ayooluwa Adetola (Niger Tornadoes)
We have become used to these types of performances from the midfielder, but he continues to impress this season. He dominated the midfield and was named man of the match.
Adimorama Eze (Bendel Insurance)
Eze was the tormentor in chief for the Benin Arsenal who caused so much heartbreak for Wikki Tourists. He was very lively for his team.
Ibrahim Sunusi (Nasarawa United)
A goal, along with 70% pass success rate, three shots on target and four successful dribbles during the game.
Justice Charles (Rivers United)
Was asked to play a much more attacking role against Remo Stars. He looked very dangerous when he got forward to cause the Sky Blue Stars’ defence problems. He netted the match winner. In the right place at the right time and looks more than capable in this more advanced role.
Chinedu Ohanachom (Elkanemi Warriors)
It was refreshing to see Ohanachom playing at his best and he looked full of energy and determination against Akwa United. He provided a brace of assists.
Abdulrahman Bashir (Enyimba)
Took his goal beautifully. The forward was menacing for the People’s Elephants. Classic Abdulrahman.
