After a string of poor results, Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Yobe Desert Stars have sacked their head coach Ngozi Elechi, reports Footballlive.ng.

The Desert Stars have picked just four points in their last nine games in the 2018/19 NPFL season.

They lost 2-1 to Elkanemi Warriors, fell to Akwa United away by one goal, crashed 3-1 at Kano Pillars, drew goalless against Plateau United, lost 1-0 at Nasarawa United and got deflated 2-1 by Kada City, before bouncing back to winning ways against Go Round with a 2-0 success.

Yobe Desert Stars were flattened 3-1 by Abia Warriors and lost 1-0 in Omoku to Go Round.

Due to the poor results, the club has decided to cut ties with Elechi.

“The management has sacked coach Ngozi Elechi. He was asked to go due to poor results because since his appointment, we have won just three games,” a top club official confirmed to Footballlive.ng.

The Damaturu-based club are currently 12th on the NPFL Group B log.
