Former Bendel Insurance forward, Julius Aghahowa has hailed the team as one of the best in the NPFL this season.
Aghahowa played for Insurance in 1999, when he first burst onto the Nigerian football scene.
The former forward made a move to Europe and also played for Esperance of Tunisia, Wigan Athletic and most famously with Shakhtar Donetsk.
Speaking with FL on Bendel Insurance, the former Striker who also earned international caps for Nigeria described the early progress of the club as down to good management.
“It is no surprise that they are where they are now because of the amount of work they have put in to get back to the NPFL,” Aghahowa said.
“Bendel Insurance is one the best in the NPFL today because of the way they encourage not only their men’s team but their women as well.
“The players are encouraged to do their best, and they look after their players as a priority which is a secret to their good results. They also bring some of their ex-players who are into management to be part of the team so it is like a family.”
Bendel Insurance announced its return to the NPFL from the lower division, with a famous 0-2 victory over Akwa United in Uyo.
