Tornadoes’ Aiteo Cup final defeat is a bitter pill to swallow because several players failed to show up when it mattered, but captain Mustapha Aliko says there’s no reason to trade blames.
Tornadoes, the underdogs, forced Pillars into penalties after a goalless result in regulation time and fancied themselves causing an upset, but it wasn’t to be.
Ayo Adetola missed his kick in sudden-death after Pillars’ defender Emmanuel Anyanwu had converted for his side.
“We lost, I don’t want to blame any player. We all tried our best possible to see that we get the trophy back to Minna but couldn’t and that’s the will of God,” Aliko told footballlive.ng.
“We have to go back to the drawing board and plan again for next season. It wasn’t easy anyway, Pillars are one of the best in Nigeria and they did well and have more matured players and at the end of the day we lost. we hope to be next time lucky.”
