Chidera Ejuke was a second half substitute in Hertha Berlin’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion.

Ejuke has made nine starts in the Bundesliga, and has no goals – but 3 assists – to his name.

The winger registered two shots, attempted two dribbles from 14 touches and he also completed 7 passes.

However, nothing he did could impact the game as Berlin manager Sandro Schwarz would have hoped.

The Nigerian was one of triple substitution made by Schwarz in the 72nd minute with the game goalless, but the visitors soon fell behind.

Niclas Füllkrug found the back of the net in the 85th minute from an Anthony Jung assist.

It proved the dagger and it sent Hertha Berlin crashing down again after last week’s 2-1 win over Schalke.

Defeat on Friday night leaves Schwarz’s side 13th on the standings, just three points from the relegation playoff spot.
