Ghanaian Premier League champions, Medeama SC picked up the ticket to the next round of the CAF Champions League as they beat Remo Stars 3-2 on penalties in the second-leg preliminary round qualifiers.

Remo Stars needed to score two goals to qualify on aggregate after losing the first leg 1-0 away from home in Ghana, and they had the momentum to go ahead and turn the game on its head when they scored first via an own-goal in the 73rd minute.

They would eventually get another one in the dying minutes of added time in regulation time, however, it was ruled out for offside.

The game would eventually be decided by the lottery of penalties, but Remo Stars were not able to make the most of it either despite goalkeeper Kayode Bankole saving a penalty.

The Ghanaian champions missed another of their own, but it would however prove to be inconsequential as the NPL club would go ahead to miss three of their own kicks.

The result means that Nigeria will not be represented in the CAF Champions League once again this season after Enyimba also missed out, following the goalless draw against Al Ahly Benghazi in Aba. The two-time champions lost 4-3 on aggregate by virtue of the result of the first leg of the encounter.
