Nigeria took a hit in the latest FIFA Men’s ranking, dropping a place from 30th in the global report released, Thursday.

The ranking took into account the competitive international games played between May and June – during the International window.
In that period, Nigeria played four matches including the friendly matches against Mexico and Ecuador.
Back to back defeats to both Mexico and Ecuador ranked 9th and 46th at the time of the games in the USA.
Meanwhile, Nigeria did go on to pick up wins against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome & Principe in the Africa Cup of Qualifiers, two teams lowly rated.
The team led by Portuguese trainer Jose Peseiro ranked third best in Africa at the time, but have now been over taken by Tunisia.
Sierra Leone and Sao Tome equally dropped, but group A Guinea-Bissau maintained their spot as the 115th team in the world (26th in Africa).
The next ranking will be release on 25 August 2022, a month before the international window opens.
In September Nigeria will face Guinea-Bissau in back to back games of the AFCON qualifiers.
