Nigerian striker Josh Oluwaseun Maja has been named in Ligue 2 team of the season after a spectacular season with Bordeaux that saw him score 16 goals and lay down a further 6 assists.

Maja’s  goal return this season, surpassed his previous highest scoring season of 15 goals which he achieved with Sunderland in the 2018/2019 season.

However, his efforts were not enough for Bordeaux to gain Promotion as they finished third.

In previous campaigns, Bordeaux would have been on course for promotion, but Ligue 1 plans to revamp the top-flight division to 18 teams instead of 20, which means four teams were relegated from Ligue 1 while only two teams gained promotion from Ligue 2.

But, Maja’s efforts did not go unnoticed and he was rewarded with a spot in the Ligue 2 team of the season.
