Nigerian striker hails role model Mbappe

Stade Reims forward, Folarin Balogun, has revealed his admiration for PSG and France superstar Kylian Mbappe, describing the 24 year-old as a “Phenomenon”.

Mbappe is yet again dominating at the FIFA World Cup, in Qatar, and has even surpassed his impressive four goal tally in Russia by scoring five.

Speaking in an interview with Lunion, Balogun, who is on loan from Arsenal and has been impressive himself so far this term, has squashed any form of comparisons with the French forward.

‘I’m trying to emulate and learn from him (Mbappe),’ the Stade Reims star said.

Folarin has 8 goals in 15 matches for Reims this season, while Mbappe’s 12 goal return in 14 matches sees him top the goal scorers’chart in Ligue 1.

The Frenchman also leads the way in this season’s UEFA Champions League with 7 goals.

“Mbappé is a phenomenon,” Balogun said. “I respect him enormously. He is young, like me, and I have always admired everything he has accomplished for some time. He also plays in France in addition. I want to follow in his footsteps and have his impact.”
