Nigerian Players active on UEFA Champions League night

Date:

Innocent Bonke and Faith Obilor helped their sides to winning starts in the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round on Wednesday.

Bonke came on as a second half substitute to help consolidate Malmo FF’s 3-0 win against Drita, while Obilor played all 90 minutes in Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi’s [HJK] narrow 2-1 win against Vikingur.

Vikingur also had a Nigerian in the match day squad. 33-year-old forward, Adesina Lawal started and played all 90 minutes, but could not help his team avoid a home defeat.

The second-leg matches are due to be played between the 18th and 17th of July.

However, the duo of Anthony Nwakaeme and John Ogu were not involved in Hapoel Be’er Sheva’s 4-1 win against FC Flora of Estonia.
