Nigerian Clubs Miss Out on CAF African Super League

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), has stipulated August 2023 as the debut date of the African Super League.

CAF also named the clubs that will be the competition’s pioneers, which is set to be the premier football competition on the continent.

In his presentation, the CAF president, Patrice Motsepe confirmed the format of the competition. He noted that the tournament would involve 8 to 12 teams in its inaugural edition this year.

16 teams would be involved in the second edition and the third edition will see 24 teams compete.

The Inaugural edition of the CAF African Super League will involve Al Ahly, Raja Casablanca and Wydad Casablanca.

Esperance, Horoya SC, Heart Of Oaks, Mamelodi Sundowns and Simba SC complete the teams vying in the tournament.
