Dozy Mmobuosi, a Nigerian billionaire, is nearing an agreement to purchase Sheffield United for almost £90 million despite the club’s recent transfer ban.

The Times report that Mmobuosi is close to completing the purchase of the Bramall Lane club.

Although ‘no issues have emerged’ thus far, it is thought that the prospective purchase still needs to pass the EFL’s owners’ and directors’ exams.

Current owner HRH Prince Abdullah bin Musa’ad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has been reported to be struggling with funding the club for some time and an agreement was supposed to have been reached for 100 million pounds take over with American Henry Mauriss.

However, according to The Sheffield Star, Mauriss’ attempted acquisition of the club was unsuccessful due to the complicated financial structure he was employing.

It indicates that Sheffield United has been looking for a new buyer and that Mmobuosi is reportedly behind this offer.
