Nigeria vs Ethiopia In Olympic Games Qualifiers

Ethiopia’s women’s national team, Dinknesh (Lucy), have set up a meeting against the Super Falcons in the qualification series for the Olympic games next year.

After beating Chad 6-0 away from home, Ethiopia completed the job at the Abebe stadium in Addis Ababa 4-0 to round off proceeding, making it 10-0 on aggregate in what was a complete annihilation of their counterpart.

 

They will now face Nigeria in the race for the qualification ticket that has eluded Nigeria for a very long time, and specifically, the Women’s team have failed to qualify for the Olympic games three times in a row.

The Super Falcons last featured in the event at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 where they crashed out in the group stages and only scored one goal from the penalty spot, by Perpetual Nkwocha.

In the qualification process, the eight winners of the second round will advance to the third round.

Afterwards, the teams will compete in the fourth round, with only four teams remaining.

The winners of the fourth round will secure qualification for the final tournament.

The second round matches are scheduled to take place from October 23rd to 31st, 2023.
