The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Friday were placed in Pot 1 ahead of the draw for the 2021 Cameroon Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers slated for 18th July in Cairo, Egypt, footballlive.ng can report.

Three times African Champions have been placed alongside arch rivals: Ghana, Senegal, DR Congo, Cameroon (hosts), Burkina Faso, Mali, Ivory Coast and others.

The implication of this is that Super Eagles cannot meet any of the teams in Pot 1.

Pot 5 comprises eight teams who will be drawn into four pairings and the winners of the two-legged ties advance to the second stage as part of pot 4.

There will then be 12 groups comprised one team from pots 1-4 and the winners and runners-up will qualify for the AFCON finals.

Hosts Cameroon is guaranteed a place so only one other team qualify from their group. Eritrea and Somalia did not enter.

Pot 1: Senegal, Tunisia, Nigeria, Morocco, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana , Cameroon (hosts), Egypt, Burkina Faso, Mali, Ivory Coast, Algeria

Pot 2: Guinea, South Africa, Cape Verde, Uganda, Zambia, Benin, Gabon, Congo Brazzaville, Mauritania, Niger, Kenya, Libya
