Nasarawa United forward Osanga King has lauded the Nigeria U20 MNT for qualifying for reaching the semi-final of the U20 Africa Cup of Nations, but believes the team must now aim to clinch the title.

The Nigerian team beat Mozambique 1-0 in the quarter-final to book their place in the last four as well as book a ticket through to the FIFA U20 World Cup later this year.

In a chat with FL, Osanga, who featured for Nigeria at the U20s, advised the boys to believe in themselves and try to limit mistakes.

“To be among the four teams that will represent the continent at the world cup is a great achievement, but with Nigeria’s pedigree it’s expected that the team will the Nations cup, after achieving their initial objective of qualifying for the World Cup.”

“After the Senegal game, we improved and to me Nigeria was the better side in that game. If the two teams happens to meet again in the final, I will pick Nigeria because the team is now matured and to me they are the favourites right now.”

“It’s left for the boys and the coach to find a solution, the boys need to believe in themselves; if they can do it against other teams definitely that can do it against Gambia. Even though no two games are the same.”
