Nigerian defender Bruno Onyemaechi has revealed his excitement after being handed his maiden call up to Nigeria’s senior team ahead of the friendly against Portugal.

Onyemaechi, 23, plies his trade with Boavista FC and has been a crucial player in the team, clocking 90 minutes in 10 of the last 11 games since joining from second tier side Feirense.

The versatile Left back is hopeful that Nigeria can defeat Portugal, and believes they just have to be aggressive in their approach to the game.

“I have to say thank you to God, because this is a great honour to represent Nigeria, this is a big country it’s not easy to be one of the invited players, I want to say I am very blessed and honored,” the Defender expressed.

“It’s going to be a difficult game, but for my game I need to just stay calm when I have the ball and try to find my teammates.

“We need to be more aggressive with the ball and without the ball, because the team we are playing is very good opponent, it’s not going to be an easy game but we are going to do our best and hopefully we are going to get the win.”
