NFF Technical Director, Austin Eguavoen has affirmed that the Federation will continue to do their best to convince the best talents who are of Nigerian heritage to play for the Country.

Eguavoen assured that the scouting process for to seek out the best talents for the National teams was still functional.

“It is up to the person now, you can force a horse to the river, but you cannot force the horse to drink. We will try, and we will always try. We have made those moves before, some of them agreed and some of them declined, so we are not going to force nobody.

“We will try to see how we can get the best and convince them through their parents, and then if they want to play for Nigeria, so be it. If they don’t want to, there is nothing we can do about it.”

The Football director also suggested that in the event of players declining the invitation of playing for the Super Eagles, Coaches have to make the most of the talents that abound in the country’s league.

“Let us also see how we can also involve a lot of players in our league. If we look at the league, there must be players that should be invited so that they can have a long career as well.

“Give me the opportunity to do what I think I know best to do, it might take some time but we will put smiles on the faces of Nigerians again.”
