The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) defaulted with payment for the Women’s U17 NT months after the team’s World Cup campaign in India, FL has gathered.

A Credible source within the team confirmed to FL, that the entire squad including the backroom and technical staff were given only 3 thousand dollars – to share among each others – after the win against USA in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

We also gathered that a planned protest by the Girls in the team’s hotel, upon arriving Nigeria, was aborted after the intervention from the Football house.

“A call was placed through to the coach. Bankole Olowookere, in what was seemed like a threat to his job and concerning future appointments. So the coach appealed to everyone to shelve the idea of protest,” the Source said.

Recall that Olowookere’s side became the first Flamingos team to break the quarter-final duck at the tournament.

Similarly, FL gathered that U20 Women’s NT, Falconets, are still owed since they crashed out of the FIFA Women’s under 20 World Cup in Costa Rica.

Meanwhile, when NFF’s communication director, Ademola Olajire, was contacted he assured the teams will be paid what is being owed.

“They have not been paid but they will be paid,” Olajire said. “I don’t work in the accounts (department) but I know that they will be paid whatever they are owed.”
