Newcastle pounds Leicester 3-0 on Boxing Day

Leicester City were no match for the in form Newcastle, as the Magpies pummeled their host 3-0 in the Premiership Boxing day fixture at the King Power Stadium.

Three first half goals from Chris Wood’s penalty (3′), Miguel Almiron (7′) and Joelinton’s header (32′) was enough to seal three points for the visitors.

Even Brendan Rodgers would have looked bemused from the sidelines as his choice of Patson Daka upfront gave the Foxes no fighting chance.

The Zambian didn’t show composure whether on the ball or inside the box and perhaps te occasion was overwhelming for the 24 year-old.

Rodgers had also left Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho on the bench until the second half, a decision he might have to rethink when the team returns to action in their trip away to Liverpool on Friday.

It could have been a combination of factors, but the introduction of Iheanacho (71′) and Ndidi (72′) brought increased threat and some stability to the team.

However the damage was done and victories don’t come any sweeter or more comfortable than this as Eddie Howe’s side march on with their sixth straight league win – 13 games unbeaten in all competitions.
