Moses Simon converted from the penalty spot on the half hour mark to give Nigeria a first-half lead against Guinea-Bissau in their second-leg Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Estádio 24 de Setembro.

Simon sent Jonas Mendes the wrong way from the penalty spot, after Bright Osayi-Samuel was hacked down in the box.

It was the winger’s second goal of the 2024 AFCON Qualifiers, bringing his total goals contribution to 5 (2 goals, 3 assists).

He has 8 international goals and has earned 54 caps. The 27 year-old is one of five changes Jose Peseiro effected from the team that started against Guinea-Bissau in the first leg.

Meanwhile, Guinea-Bissau are yet to lose a game in the qualifiers (1w 2d), and enter the game top of Group A.

More to Come…
