Moses Simon started from the bench as Nantes lost 1-0 at home to Rennes, courtesy to Jeremy Doku’s first half strike.

After collapsing at home against Juventus in the UEFA Europa League playoff second-leg tie, pressure was on Antoine Kombouaré and his team to respond in front of the home fans when they welcomed Rennes, but yet again they fell short.

In a bid to switch things up in attack the French gaffer opted to start Moses Simon on the bench, but the move did not pay off.

Nantes were blunt in attack and even when they had the chance to score they were let down by poor finishing.

Simon was later introduced in the 69th minute, but he could not produce the moment of magic that would have seen his side at least snatch a point.

It has been a consistent crest and trough for the Yellow Canaries in the last five Ligue games.

Currently sitting 13th in the standings. 7points above the drop zone, Kombouaré’s side have won just two of the last five league matches.
