Moses Simon returned to the starting line up for Nantes and grabbed an assist in the side’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to RC Lens away from home on Sunday.

Simon made a 15-minute cameo in their last outing against Juventus in the Europa League, as he returned from injury and was fit to enough to start on the left flank of a front two for Les Canaries.

Cheered on by the home fans Lens, started the brighter of the two teams and scored a quick-fire double in the 34th and 36th minute to go ahead.

However Nantes responded as Florent Mollet smashed home the ball after Moses Simon found him in space in the 40th minute to halve the deficit.

Despite ending the first half strongly, Nantes were unable to capitalise on their finish and Lens took the initiative again.

They extended their lead in the 74th minute courtesy of a Charles Traore own-goal.

Moses Simon was taken of shortly afterwards and the Nigerian would have been contented with his performance on his first start in five games.
