Moses Simon hit the back of the net for his 6th league goal of the season, but it wasn’t enough to save his Nantes side from falling against Metz, on Sunday.

Simon has enjoyed an early run of good form this campaign and even picked up Nantes’ player of the month award for October.

The Nigerian has racked up three goals and four assists in just 12 appearances and leads The Canaries for goals contribution this season.

His goal on Sunday, at the Stade Saint-Symphorien, was a perfect response to Nantes falling behind after Kevin Van Den Kerkhof put the hosts ahead inside the opening three minutes of the encounter.

Nine minutes later, Moses Simon connected with a Nicolas Pallois cross to finish off and tie the game.

However, the visitors conceded twice, first in the 28th minute from Simon Elisor and then five minutes from regulation time, substitute Joel Asoro sealed victory for Metz.

The result didn’t change Nantes’ position in the standings as they remain in mid-table, but just two points outside of a European spot.

Action returns to the French topflight after the international break and the Nantes will host Le Havre on November 25 at the Stade de la Beaujoire-Loius Fonteneau.
