Super Eagles winger Moses Simon was on target for Nantes as they snatched a late equaliser to draw 2-2 against AC Ajaccio in Ligue 1on Sunday.
Starting on the left flank of a front three, Simon was the hero for Nantes fans, as the Canaries came from behind to snatch a point and avoid back to back defeats.
Ajaccio fresh from seeing off Strasbourg 4-2 last time out gave Nantes a game as they took a two-goal lead in the second half after a barren first forty-five minutes.
Youcef Belaili got the first for Ajaccio from the spot in the 57th minute before turning provider for Romain Hamouma ten minutes later.
Ludovic Blas wasn’t having any of it and would Gon on to halve the deficit with a well taken goal after a neat one-two with Mostafa Mohamed.
Nantes switched the gear afterwards in search of an equaliser; cheered on by the home fans, Ludovic saw his shot rocket off the cross bar in the 83rd minute and when it seemed they were running out of luck, Moses Simon stepped up and got the equaliser on the 89th minute mark.
His lofted cross into the box was totally misjudged by Ajaccio goalkeeper Benjamin Leroy and it ended at the back of the net to earn Nantes one point, a result they will gladly take in front of their home fans.
