Mission Accomplished! Sadiq Delivers Almeria Biggest Prize of the Season

Umar Sadiq’s 53rd minute goal did not only earn UD Almeria a point against CD Leganes, it also ensured Rojiblancos finished top of the Segunda Liga table and also secured promotion to LaLiga next season.

It was the Nigerian’s 18th league goal for Almeria and what a peach of a strike the lanky FW produced after a brilliant give and go.
It was fitting of the occasion – significant – and capping an impressive campaign with a league title, there’s no bigger reward.
On the day when everything banked on automatic promotion to the top flight for Rubi’s men, they started off slow and were punished for it twice.
First in the opening nine minutes of the match through Borjas Garches and next by Kenneth Omeruo – the CBs second of the season – in between Rodrigo Ely’s equalizer in the 15th minute.
Almeria’s second equalizer was fateful, they had struggled all through to contain the Leganes attack, who really had nothing to okay for.
Meanwhile, result elsewhere also went in their favor, as already relegated Alcorcon stunned Eibar, who had led the league until the final day of the regular season.
Eibar lost their spot for an automatic promotion ticket and will now navigate the playoffs to fight for the last promotion place.
Meanwhile, Umar Sadiq finished his league campaign with double figures and for the first time in his career – in successive seasons at Almeria.
Last season, he notched a total of 20 goals and 4 assists in 40 matches, but in 2022, having played four games less, Sadiq contributed 18 goals and 9 assists.
