Marco Asensio Brazenly Mocks David de Gea with Loris Karius comparison

Date:

Manchester United bounced back from their 4-1 loss to Liverpool and wrapped up their pre-season tour of the United States with a 2-1 win over Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

Footage has emerged of Marco Asensio mocking Loris Karius after their defeat to Manchester United in pre-season, this week.

You can clearly hear the Spaniard call international teammate, David de Gea, ‘Karius’ following his mistakes at the World Cup.

It took 205 minutes for Spain’s number one, and arguably the best goalkeeper in world football, David de Gea, to make his first save at this summer’s tournament. Before the 27-year-old made that save, he faced a total of four shots on target in the opening three games and made zero saves.

Asensio can be heard saying ‘Karius, Karius, Karius’ in the tunnel as De Gea and the rest of the players make their way to the pitch. But, De Gea seemed unmoved by Asensio’s cheeky taunts as the pair hugged in the tunnel and spoke after the game. De Gea did not enjoy the best of World Cups for Spain, making one very noticeable mistake in the 3-3 draw with Portugal.

The United No.1 faced criticism for allowing Cristiano Ronaldo’s effort slip through his fingers. Karius endured the worst night of his professional career against Asensio’s Real in the Champions League final last May, making two costly errors and gifting the La Liga side two goals.

The mistakes seem to have cost Karius his future at Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp decided to spend a world record fee on a new goalkeeper. Alisson is set to take the No.1 spot from Karius, and the German is now considering his position at the Merseyside club. However, reports claim Alisson will not take the No.1 jersey out of respect for Karius, instead the Brazil international will don the No.13 shirt.
