Many would be praising the impact of Victor Osimhen in Napoli as the center forward is leading the Partenopei to their first Serie A title since the 1989/1990 season.

However, he will not be the first Nigerian to win the Scudetto as Obafemi Martins did it back then In 2005/2006 with Inter Milan.

In a forward line that had the likes of Dejan Stankovic, Luis Figo, and Adriano one would have expected Obafemi Martins to have very limited playing time but the Nigerian racked up 28 appearances and made a return of 9 goals and 4 assists.

Some of the goals were very important just like the decider in the 1-0 victory against Fiorentina or the crucial goal in the 3-2 victory against AC Milan.

The Nigerian have a way of turning up for big games and earning the respect and admiration of the fans.

He was also a willing runner and his Intelligence off and on the ball proved crucial for the rest of his teammates.

Victor Osimhen on the other hand is leading the charge of Napoli’s Scudetto victory of course the support cast of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and others can’t be overlooked, but, a return of 21 goals in 25 league appearances is so impressive and with one more goal, he will be the highest scoring African in a single Serie A season.

His performance this season makes him one of the hottest properties in the transfer market and he will be fondly remembered by those in Naples as the man that led Napoli to the Serie A title since the legendary Diego Armando Maradona.
