Former Nigeria U17 Men’s NT coach, Manu Garba has drummed his support for the Country’s contingent ahead of the Africa U20 Cup of Nations.

Ladan Bosso will guide Nigeria’s U20 MNT, Flying Eagles, with the tournament set to get underway on February 11.

Garba, who was also a former coach of the Flying Eagles 2015 to 2018, believes the current team can progress beyond the first round of the competition in Egypt.

Nigeria will play in group A with the host nation Egypt, Senegal and Mozambique.

However, the former Coach warned that it is of utmost importance to pick up as many points as possible in the first round of the tournament as it would set the momentum for the team.

“I think coach Bosso knows his ways, they must know the strength and weaknesses of the opponents, the NFF technical department would do a good job of giving reports on them,” Garba told Brila FM, “The players are hungry for success and it will help them do well.”

“Motivation will help too, when they get their allowances, the NFF should try as much as possible to pay their allowances, it will motivate them. Apart from wearing the national team jerseys, the allowances would go a long way in motivating the boys.”

He also spoke about the team having players invited from foreign clubs, he said that, “As far as someone is a Nigerian and he is better than the ones on ground, they should be given a chance, but if they are not, they go back as there are no automatic shirts on ground.”
