Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has rated Senegalese forward Sadio Mane as one of the top 10 best players in the world based on current form and impact for club and country.
The Liverpool winger scored two goals on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League as they saw out stiff opposition from German giant Bayern Munich in a game that ended 3 – 1 at the Allianz Arena to progress to the quarter final of the competition.
Sadio Mane opened scoring for the Reds in the 26th minute after rounding Bayern’s goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to cooly chip the ball into the back of the net. Bayern got back into the game after an own goal from Joel Matip in the 39th minute.
Liverpool took back the lead in the 69th minute when Virgil Van Dyke thundered in an header from a James Milner corner kick before Mane struck the winner in the 84th minute with a header connecting to a cheeky cross from Mohammed Salah.
Reacting to the win, the former Super Eagles coach and Ajax Amsterdam midfielder stated that Mane has been able to consistently show his worth over the years. “Sadio Mane once again Vs. Bayern, confirmed that he is one of the best 10 players in the world! Liverpool would definitely not be where they are today without him! 9 goals in Liverpool’s last 10 matches! simply World class.”
Liverpool joins Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter final of the competition. Mane has scored nine goals in his last 10 appearance for Liverpool.
