Cash strapped Sunshine Stars are downsizing to cut expenses and the first to go are the some backroom staff, non-coaching staff and three ball boys.

Sunshine Stars barely survived relegation last season in the NPFL and for the better part of the campaign had been neck deep in debt.
The Players were owed over six months in wages, a situation that forced their Coach, Gbenga Ogunbote resignation from his position after a string of bad result. He had blamed the team’s shambolic performance on lack of motivation.
In a statement issued by the Ondo Football Agency on September 29, the management of both Sunshine Stars and the women’s team, Sunshine Queens announced the dissolution of the Technical crews of both teams.
The statement on the sack of non-coaching staff for both Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens.
The Team Doctor, Media Officer, Kits Officer, Ball boys and Laundry boys were also given the sack.
Both Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens are owned and financier by the Ondo State government, in the South Western region of Nigeria.
With the Men and Women’s League seasons owner the ODSFA may have taken the steps to cut the Agency’s expenses in the off season, as its allocation from the government in Akure has waned and been inconsistent for months.
