Paul Onuachu was pivotal to KRC Genk’s 3-1 victory at home to Club Brugge in the Jupiler Pro League to extend their lead at the top of the table to 10 points.

It was a difficult encounter at the Cegeka Arena for Club Brugge who were without midfielder Raphael Onyedika, due to accumulated yellow cards.

The game was locked at 1-1 after the first 45 minutes and was headed to a draw before Paul Onuachu took matters into his own hands.

Onuachu calmly controlled the ball when found in the middle of the box by Joseph Paintsil, beating two players before slotting past Simon Mignolet to put Genk in the lead.

The game opened up afterwards as Genk began to impose themselves, and frustration began to creep into Club Brugge’s game and their frustration was summed up when Abakar Sylla was sent off for a reckless challenge.

It was straight forward afterwards for Genk and the third goal came courtesy of Bryan Heynen, who was at the right place at the right time to pile up the misery for Club Brugge.

With the goal Paul Onuachu has now extended his League tally to 14 goals in 16 games, three goals more than Antwerp’s Janssen Vicente.
