Forward Malachi Ohawume has said Rivers United were ‘much the better side’ after his goal gave the Pride of Rivers a 1-0 victory over Kano Pillars in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
For the second time in four days at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Ohawume was on song for Rivers United.
The Pride of Rivers ended up as runners up with seven points in Group B.
“It was a tough game,” Ohawume said in the post-match presser.
“But we were much the better team, we went for the win from the start.
“The team gave everything, we delivered for our fans.”
“We wanted the goals to come sooner too and not have to suffer so much, but I think this type of victory make us more of a team and are important for us.”
