Success Makanjuola says the Flying Eagles were determined to defeat their Ukrainian counterparts in their last group game of the ongoing 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, but it was unfortunate that they had to settle for a draw.
The draw means the Flying Eagles booked their place in the round of 16 after picking one of the four available tickets for best losers and will face either Italy or Senegal in the next game.
Speaking to the media of the World Football Governing Body, FIFA, after the game, the Water FC winger who made his first start in the tournament on the night said the Paul Aigbogun side were unlucky not to pick All the three points and promised much-improved performance in the round of 16.
“I was very happy when I was named in the starting line up by the coach. Paul Aigbogun told me to go into the pitch and showcase my talent to the world and I had no chance but to justify my inclusion,” Makanjuola who was named the man-of-the-match said during his post-match interview.
“We were determined to win, but unfortunately, we didn’t get it right in the final third.
“We are ready to take on any team in this knockout stage. It will be tough, but I must admit we are capable.” He said.
