Nigeria striker Simy Nwankwo staked claim for a Super Eagles recall with a marvellous match-winning strike for Crotone in their 1-0 win over Benevento in the Italian Serie B on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old went into the game at the Stadio Ezio Scida (Crotone) in strong mood and he advertised another glistening display – sensationally scoring a sumptuous goal to hand victory to Crotone.
Ahmad Benali was sent off for a second bookable offense as the hosts were reduced to 10 men.
Benevento held Crotone for the best of the game including the entire first-half and the first minute of the second department but one brilliant move from the attacker broke their defense-line and ensured they ended the game empty-handed.
Simy sent home an unstoppable drive past goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo for his 13th goal of the league campaign.
