Enugu Rangers head Coach, Abdul Maikaba has cited a moment of madness in the officiating of his side’s 1-0 defeat to Rivers United on Wednesday as the tipping point of the encounter.

At the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, the league champions ended Rangers’ three-game winning streak in the NPFL via a goal from Nyima Nwagua in the 63rd minute, in a rescheduled game.

The Rangers Coach blamed the referee for his side’s loss, Maikaba accused the Referee of favouring Rivers United.

“It was a very good game from both sides, which to a very large extent showcased our football in good light,” Maikaba told the club’s media.

“However, we conceded a goal due to a mistake by the referee who awarded a foul against them, but she reversed the decision, handing them an advantage, which then led to our conceding the goal.”
