Losing start for Awoniyi in the Premier League

Taiwo Awoniyi came off the bench for his Premier League debut, however Nottingham Forest got a sore beating away at Newcastle.

Second half goals, the first from Fabian Schar and the other from Callum Wilson marked Forest’ return to the top flight in an unwanted fashion.
It was also disappointing because of the three newly promoted sides, Nottingham Forest were the only losers.
Fulham held Liverpool 2-2, while Bournemouth picked Aston Villa apart easy at Dean Court.
However, for Taiwo Awoniyi and his new teammates it was a difficult afternoon at St. James’ Park at the weekend.
They were outplayed, 62% to 38% on ball possession and failed to register a shot on goal compared to 10 for the Magpies.
Awoniyi himself got no shots off in the game, instead he applied himself defensively, he won 3 tackles and managed only 8 touches on the ball in 27 minutes.
Next for Steve Cooper’s side is a home game against West Ham United, who themselves lost their opening PL match 2-0 to Manchester City on Sunday.
Both goals came off the boots of City’s Summer acquisition Erling Haaland.
