Rangers have sacked their Manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst after a year and three days in charge at Ibrox.

van Bronkhorst was appointed in 2021 as replacement for Steven Gerrard and the Dutchman led the club to both the Europa League and Scottish Cup finals, he won the latter.

However things went down south pretty quick between the Manager and fans despite the team second on the Scottish League table, 9 points off pace from leaders Celtic.

The team reached the UEFA Champions League but have been eliminated without winning a game and they have been without a win in their last seven games

Reacting on the club’s decision to sack van Bronkhorst, former Gers Forward, Kris Boyd believes the poor results results on the pitch as well as the failure to replace players like Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey brought the Dutchman’s reign to an inevitable end.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Monday, Boyd said Aribo’s exit and the ‘overpriced’ sale of Bassey left vacuums that weren’t filled in the summer transfer window. He admits recruitment also let the 47 year-old manager down.

In his one year in charge at Ibrox, Giovanni van Bronckhorst managed 68 games recorded 42 wins, 12 draws and lost 14.
