Sources in the camp of Lobi Stars are claiming Barnabas Imenger has kicked against the appointment of Gbenga Ogunbote as coach.
Imenger, who is Team Manager, is reportedly against the move to bring in the 2018 Aiteo Cup winner because the appointment breached “due process”.
Club vice-chairman Mike Idoko recently announced the appointment of the former Enugu Rangers gaffer as replacement for Solomon Ogbeide who died in May after a brief illness.
However, Imenger had told Daily Trust [on Sunday] that non of the management committee members were involved in the recruitment process of that produced Ogunbote.
“I want to state categorically that no member of the management committee of Lobi Stars was consulted before the appointment of Gbenga Ogunbote,” the Lobi Stars team Manager said.
“He may be the best coach in the country but his appointment as Lobi Stars coach didn’t follow due process so it is null and void.
“It may interest you to know that as the Team Manager of Lobi Stars, nobody consulted me. Unfortunately, this is not a decision that should be taken by one person.
“Against this background, I want to say that the appointment of Ogunbote won’t stand. Due process must be followed.”
Imenger insists any Coach interested in the Lobi Stars vacant Managerial position must formally apply regardless of the pedigree.
However, according to reports Ogunbote is due to be unveiled as Lobi Stars Coach in Makurdi.
