Lobi, Rangers Will Go Far In Continental Contests – Ezeji

Date:

Former star attraction in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), Victor Ezeji has tipped the countries two representatives in the continental terrain, Rangers International of Enugu and Lobi Stars of Makurdi to go far in their respective contests.

Although Lobi Stars are still placed bottom of Group A in the CAF Champions League, Ezeji insists the Middle Belt squad have what it takes to storm back, while affirming that previous experience will see Rnagers through in the Confederation Cup, where they top their pool.

Footballlive.ng learnt further that Ezeji, who made his mark with Sharks of Port Harcourt for the better part his career, in which he became a veteran in the domestic league, says he is optimistic for both clubs.

Ezeji, who was also part of Enyimba of Aba’s squad that ended Nigeria’s 30-year-jinx in winning the CAF Champions League trophy in 2003, then won a domestic double with Dolphins of Port Harcourt in 2004, went on to stress that hard work is the only route to success.

The graduate of accounting from University of Port-Harcourt, who also played sparingly for Sunshine Stars of Akure, Heartland of Owerri and Club Africain of Tunisia.

Ezeji stated: “Lobi Stars have not done badly. After losing 1-0 at home to Wydad Athletic Club, many expected (them to fall) in the return.
“They managed to get a draw which is a morale booster ahead of their next game against Mamelodi Sundowns.
“They still have a great possibility of qualifying for the quarter finals if they can manage their situation very well.
“Rangers have yet to suffer defeat in a group with former winners’ Etoile du Sahel and CS Sfaxien.
“In their last game away to Sfaxien, they fought back to draw level less than two minutes after Sfaxien had taken the lead.
“That shows the sort of confidence they have. Surprisingly, they are the team to beat despite the presence of the two Tunisian top sides.
“Rangers have so many experienced players in their fold as well as experienced management staff.
“There is nothing better than blending experience and youth. I expect Rangers to progress to the next stage.”
