Lille OSC Manager Christophe Galtier has revealed reasons for leaving out Victor Osimhen from his squad that lost to Chelsea in Tuesday’s Champions League clash.
Osimhen was rested alongside Jonathan Ikone and Captain Jose Fonte for the dead rubber clash at Stamford Bridge.
Lille suffered a 2-1 defeat to finish bottom of the group without a win in six games.
“I wouldn’t say I have regrets regarding my choices. Obviously as you said, we’ve got some tough fixtures coming up, Montpellier then a Cup game and Monaco,” Galtier told reporters.
“There was in effect nothing to play for in this game, so I don’t have any regrets.
“I am also happy I managed to give some players the chance to start this competition.
“Our objective is clear for the next three games, that we are what we are focusing on. We will see what happens starting from Friday with Montpellier.
“There have been a lot of games back-to-back as well since November,” he concluded.
The Nigeria international netted two of Les Dogues’ four goals in the Champions League this season.
