Nigeria’s world cup exit is a painful experience lingering in the minds of many, but Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun hopes the team will bring back a trophy home soon to assuage the broken hearts.

It’s been Two weeks since Nigeria crashed out of the 2018 World Cup in Russia and Balogun, who is set to resume pre-season with his new EPL club Brighton, posted a message on instagram, reflecting on the past and aspirations in th future.

The Post read:

Better late than never, but never late is better. Itโ€™s been 2 weeks since this exciting journey has ended for my team and me. Reminiscing itโ€™s still painful, I wonโ€™t lie. But life goes on and it gives you so many reasons to smile. Meanwhile I turned 30 (thx for all the messages ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ), am about to start a new chapter in Brighton and there will be a new world champion soon making their nation proud. I will be forever grateful for this invaluable experience with the Supereagles. So this is to say thank you to my team, the complete staff, to everyone who was part of this great journey and supported us. To Russia and its people for their great hospitality.ย And last but not least, THANK YOU Nigeria for the endless support. Itโ€™s been a great honour representing you and we hope we could make you proud. We will continue to strive for greatness in the future so one day we can hopefully bring a trophy back home ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ #WorldCup2018 #Dreamchasers #DreamsDoComeTrue #Supereagles #Flygerians # #Adeola
