Legendary Goalkeeper Advises Onana To Be Humble

Legendary Cameroon goalkeeper, Thomas N’Kono has sent words of advice to Andre Onana, who clashed with national team coach, Rigobert Song, at the world cup in Qatar.

N’Kono urged the 26 year-old Goalkeeper to be “humble”, after his altercation with the Coach led to his dismissal from camp.

Onana returned to Cameroon amidst the row and appeared on social media playing football in a local neighborhood.

The disagreement the ensued between Song and Onana was over the Coach’s instruction for his goalkeeper to play a certain way for the team’s benefit.

Rigobert Song was also backed by the FECAFOOT, Cameroon’s football governing body, and an official statement confirming the Goalkeeper’s suspension was upheld.

Speaking on the matter Thomas N’kono, who represented Cameroon at three World Cup, insists the Young goalkeeper despite being an important member of the squad, ought to be more logical and modest.

“Onana has to be humble, he is more important than the rest,” N’Kono told AS.

“Being humble in life makes you reach the goal. Values are important. We don’t know what happened.”

On Cameroon’s performance at the World Cup, he said, “I didn’t expect it. It is a way of showing that African football can be there.

“I have confidence in Samuel Eto’o. We have taken a step forward. In the next competitions, I think we will give a good level. Many have played their first tournament here.”
